Privacy Policy
Effective date: August 2, 2026
Quest Keeper (“Quest Keeper,” “we,” “us”) is operated by Suzanne Dondero, doing business as Virtual Desk Jockey. This Privacy Policy explains what information Quest Keeper collects, how it’s used, and how it’s protected. Quest Keeper is a household task-management application used by a small number of related households (“Guilds”) to coordinate chores (“Quests”), track rewards, and communicate by SMS.
Who Holds an Account
Only adults hold accounts in Quest Keeper. A Guild Owner or Guild Master signs up with an email address and password to manage their household’s Guild. Household members who complete Quests (“Adventurers,” who may be children) never sign up, never provide their own information, and never authenticate. Any information about an Adventurer is entered by the adult account holder who manages that Guild.
Information We Collect
We collect and store:
- Account information: the email address and password (stored securely by our authentication provider, never in plain text) of each Guild Owner or Guild Master.
- Adventurer information:a display name, a reward preference, a participation mode, and — only if the Guild Master enables SMS for that person — a phone number. We do not collect age, birthdate, or any other information about an Adventurer beyond what’s needed to run Quests and track rewards.
- Quest and reward activity: Quests created, completed, and approved; reward balances and transaction history; household due assignments and payments.
- Quest evidence:if a photo is submitted as proof a Quest was completed, it’s stored securely and only accessible to that Guild’s Owner and Guild Masters.
- SMS messages:the content and metadata (phone number, timestamp, delivery status) of text messages sent and received through Quest Keeper’s SMS feature.
- Audit and activity logs: a record of privileged actions (role changes, reward adjustments, Quest approvals, etc.) taken within a Guild, used for accountability and dispute resolution.
SMS Messaging
If a Guild Master enables SMS for an Adventurer, that phone number receives text messages about Quests — for example, Quest assignments, instructions, and reminders — and can reply with short commands (like accepting or marking a Quest done). Enabling SMS for a phone number, and providing that number, is always the Guild Master’s decision, not something Quest Keeper collects directly from the person using that phone.
- Message frequency varies based on Quest activity.
- Message and data rates may apply.
- Reply STOP to opt out of messages at any time, or START to resume. Reply HELP for assistance, or contact us at scdondero@gmail.com.
- Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent are not shared with any third party for marketing purposes.
How We Use Information
Information is used only to operate Quest Keeper: running Quests, sending and receiving SMS messages related to Quests, tracking reward balances, and maintaining an audit trail within a Guild. We do not use Adventurer or household information for advertising, and we do not sell personal information to anyone.
Who We Share Information With
Quest Keeper shares information only with the service providers needed to run the product, and only to the extent required to provide that service:
- Twilio — delivers and receives SMS messages.
- Supabase — hosts our database, authentication, and file storage.
- Vercel — hosts the Quest Keeper web application.
No advertising or analytics vendor receives Adventurer- or household-identifiable information. Information is never sold.
Data Isolation Between Households
Every Guild’s data — Adventurers, Quests, messages, and balances — is isolated from every other Guild’s data at both the application and database level. A member of one Guild cannot see or act on another Guild’s information.
Payments
Quest Keeper never holds funds, moves money, or stores payment credentials. Reward balances are bookkeeping only. Real payouts happen outside the app — in cash, by a manual transfer, or at most through a Venmo link that pre-fills an amount so the Guild Master sends it themselves inside Venmo’s own app.
Children’s Privacy
Quest Keeper is designed so that children never create an account, never provide their own information to us, and never authenticate. Information about a child Adventurer is entered by their parent or guardian, who controls whether SMS is enabled and what phone number is used. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children, and we do not collect age or birthdate for any Adventurer. If you believe a child has provided us information directly, contact us at scdondero@gmail.com and we will address it promptly.
Data Retention and Deletion
A Guild Master can remove an Adventurer profile at any time, which deletes that Adventurer’s identifying information — name, phone number, and contact details — along with their Quest and reward history. A Guild Owner can close a Guild entirely, which deletes everything stored under it. We don’t retain data longer than needed to operate the product.
Security
Access to Guild data requires authentication and is enforced both in our application code and at the database level. Privileged actions (role changes, reward adjustments, Quest approvals) are recorded in an audit trail visible only to that Guild’s Owner and Guild Masters. Inbound SMS requests are verified against Twilio’s signature before being processed.
Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes materially, we’ll update the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify Guild Owners and Guild Masters directly.
