Terms & Conditions

These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern use of Quest Keeper, operated by Suzanne Dondero, doing business as Virtual Desk Jockey (“Quest Keeper,” “we,” “us”). By creating a Guild, signing in, or otherwise using Quest Keeper, a Guild Owner or Guild Master agrees to these Terms on behalf of themselves and their household.

What Quest Keeper Is

Quest Keeper is a household task-management tool. Guild Owners and Guild Masters (adults) create Quests, assign or open them to Adventurers (household members), track completion, and record rewards in a Treasury. Some Adventurers may optionally receive Quest information and reply by SMS text message.

Accounts

  • Only adults may create or hold a Quest Keeper account (Guild Owner or Guild Master). Adventurers do not have accounts, passwords, or logins.
  • You’re responsible for keeping your account credentials confidential and for activity that occurs under your account.
  • A Guild Owner is responsible for the accuracy of any information they or their Guild Masters enter about an Adventurer, including any phone number provided for SMS.

SMS Messaging Terms

Enabling SMS for an Adventurer is optional and requires a Guild Master to affirmatively provide that phone number and enable the feature.

  • Message frequency varies based on Quest activity.
  • Message and data rates may apply.
  • Reply STOP to any message to opt out at any time; reply START to opt back in; reply HELP for help.
  • Supported carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
  • Quest Keeper is not responsible for SMS delivery failures, delays, or carrier charges outside our control.

How We Obtain Consent

Because Adventurers don’t create their own accounts, consent to receive SMS messages is collected in two steps, both initiated by the adult Guild Master, never by us:

  1. Verbal request. Before enabling SMS for a household member, the Guild Master asks them directly, using language substantially like:
    “I’d like to add you to our Quest Keeper Guild so you get text reminders about your Quests and rewards. You’ll get a one-time text asking you to confirm — just reply YES to opt in, and you can text STOP any time to stop. Is that okay with you?”
  2. Written confirmation by SMS. Only after that verbal agreement does the Guild Master enable SMS for that person in Quest Keeper, which sends a one-time confirmation text to the number provided:
    “Quest Keeper: [Guild Master name] wants to add you as an Adventurer for the [Guild name] Guild and send you texts about your Quests. Reply YES to confirm, or STOP if you don’t want these messages.”
    No Quest-related messages are sent to that number unless and until it replies YES.

This applies to every phone number used with Quest Keeper’s SMS feature, including the number used for our Twilio campaign, (480) 470-4824.

Rewards Are Not Money

Gold, points, and balances tracked in Quest Keeper’s Treasury are a household bookkeeping record, not currency, a stored-value account, or a payment instrument. Quest Keeper never holds funds, never moves money on a user’s behalf, and never processes payments. Any actual payout happens outside the app — in cash, by a manual transfer the Guild Master arranges themselves, or through a Venmo link that simply pre-fills an amount for the Guild Master to send inside Venmo’s own app. Quest Keeper is not a party to, and does not guarantee, any payout.

Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use Quest Keeper to send SMS messages to a phone number without that person’s (or their parent/guardian’s) knowledge and consent.
  • Attempt to access another Guild’s data, accounts, or messages.
  • Use Quest Keeper for any unlawful purpose or in a way that interferes with its normal operation.

Household Data

Information you provide about your household and its Adventurers is used only to operate Quest Keeper for your Guild, as described in our Privacy Policy. A Guild Owner may delete an Adventurer profile or close their Guild at any time, which removes the corresponding data as described in that policy.

Availability and Changes

Quest Keeper is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without warranties of any kind. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time. We may update these Terms from time to time; continued use after an update means you accept the revised Terms.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Quest Keeper and Virtual Desk Jockey are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the service, including any dispute over Quest completion, reward amounts, or a payout arranged outside the app.

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the state in which Virtual Desk Jockey is registered, without regard to conflict of law principles.
